# The Big History Behind January 6th
A six-part 2021 essay series by investigative journalist [[Dave Troy]] tracing the long historical roots of the January 6 Capitol attack.
Part 1 ("Anti-Communism, Domestic Surveillance, and the Russian Alliance") follows the thread from the [[Church Committee]] through [[Western Goals]], [[John Singlaub]], [[Iran-Contra Affair]], the [[Wolfowitz Doctrine]], and the U.S.–Russia "traditional values" alliance ([[World Congress of Families]]).
Part 2 ("Gold, Silver, and Cryptocurrency") traces [[Hard Money Politics]] from the anti-[[New Deal]] gold faction and [[Executive Order 6102]], through [[Nelson Bunker Hunt]] and his brothers' [[Silver Thursday]] silver corner, to [[Steve Bannon]]'s gold-farming venture [[Internet Gaming Entertainment]] with [[Brock Pierce]] and the rise of [[Bitcoin]].
Part 3 ("Fourth Generation Warfare, the Council for National Policy, and Stop the Steal") follows [[William S. Lind]] and [[John Boyd]]'s [[Fourth Generation Warfare]] / [[OODA Loop]] ideas into [[Paul Weyrich]]'s political organizing, [[National Empowerment Television]], the [[Council for National Policy]], the "[[Reality-Based Community]]" ethos, and the [[Stop the Steal]] operation of Roger Stone and Ali Alexander.
Part 4 ("Intelligence, Big Oil, and The Octopus") is the synthesis chapter: it uses the film [[Seven Days in May]] and Bircher general [[Edwin Walker]] to frame the military-vs-civilian-control tension, documents former military/intelligence support for Stop the Steal, and lays out the three-tentacle [[The Octopus]] convergence — intelligence hardliners, Big Oil (via [[Standing Rock]], [[TigerSwan]], and [[Robert McFarlane]]'s Arctic-oil argument), and the Catholic right ([[Opus Dei]], [[Knights of Malta]], [[Legatus]], the [[Second Vatican Council]] schism amplified by [[Steve Bannon]] and [[Carlo Maria Viganò]]).
Part 5 ("Molestation, Cancel Culture, and QAnon") traces the libertarian [[Robert LeFevre]] lineage — his [[Freedom School]], the concept of [[Molestation (Libertarianism)]], and the [[Non-Aggression Principle]] — plus the occult [[I AM Activity]], into "cancel culture" (via [[Eric Heubeck]]'s memo) and the [[QAnon]] "Save the Children" mythology (recycling the [[Blood Libel]]) promoted by [[Robert David Steele]] and [[Michael Flynn]].
Part 6 ("The Bet") is the finale: it documents the [[Council for National Policy]]'s February-2020 pandemic-and-election playbook (via [[Anne Nelson]]), the Schlafly Eagles talent pipeline, the November-2020 Pentagon loyalist purge, and the [[Stop the Steal]] / [[January 6 Capitol Attack]] execution — then argues the true fault line is over *property* and *trust*, that "Russian meddling was a bad frame" for what was really a collaboration between transnational peers, and closes on [[John Singlaub]]'s literal hunt for [[Yamashita's Gold]]. The series is a primary source for the vault's [[The Octopus]] frame.
The bonus **Coda ("The Redpill Deception and the Tipping Point")** extends the frame forward: it identifies the animating ideology as the [[The Sovereign Individual]] worldview (Davidson & Rees-Mogg, 1997; [[Peter Thiel]] foreword), the tactic as [[Fifth Generation Warfare]] and "redpilling" pipelines, and the destination as [[State Capture]] / [[Plutocracy]]; it also flags [[Steve Bannon]]'s use of the *[[The Fourth Turning]]* generational-cycle theory and Nancy MacLean's *[[Democracy in Chains]]* account of the Koch/[[James Buchanan]] "stealth" strategy.
**Series status: COMPLETE — all six parts (1–6) plus the Coda integrated into the vault.**
