# Animal Farm
[[George Orwell]]'s 1945 allegory of the [[Russian Revolution]]'s capture — the revolution that ends with the ruling pigs indistinguishable from the farmers they overthrew, and the commandment amended to "all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others." The KB's compact reference for **revolutionary capture and incremental rule-rewriting**: Squealer's running revisions of the painted commandments are the memory-hole mechanism in miniature, and the book's own publication history (rejected by four publishers wary of offending the Soviet ally, including on a Ministry of Information official's advice) is a case study in the polite censorship Orwell catalogued in its suppressed preface, "The Freedom of the Press."
