# Disinformation Lexicon
Alphabetical map of disinformation vocabulary. Each entry lives in `/Subjects/Disinformation/`; this page is the dictionary view. For the **categorized framework view** (Wardle/Derakhshan taxonomy, IPA Seven Devices, [[Firehose of Falsehood]], [[Network Propaganda]] framework), see [[Disinformation Hub]].
## Why two views?
The framework view groups terms by *what they describe* — taxonomy of false-info types, propaganda techniques, infrastructure, effects — useful when reasoning about a specific operation or campaign. The lexicon view sorts alphabetically — useful when you encounter a term in the wild and want a definition.
## A — Z
- [[Ad Populum]] — Arguing that something is true because many people believe it; the logical foundation of populist epistemology.
- [[Alternative Facts]] — Conway, Jan 2017 NBC *Meet the Press*. Euphemism rebranding falsehoods as one of two equally-legitimate accounts; perspectival cover that displaces the truth/lie binary.
- [[Antifa (Right-Wing Slur)]] — Contemporary American right-wing scapegoat-construct. Post-2017 Charlottesville intensification through 2020 racial-justice protests, January 6 false-flag framing, 2025+ second-Trump-administration FBI / DOJ counter-Antifa institutional priority. [[Andy Ngo]] amplification infrastructure. Paired with [[Antifa]] per Boogaloo precedent — the *word's rhetorical work* is analytically distinct from the *loose decentralized movement* the term originally named.
- [[The Big Lie]] — Hitler, *[[Mein Kampf]]* 1925; rebranded post-2020 for Trump's stolen-election claim. Audacity-as-credibility mechanism: scale and repetition substitute for evidence.
- [[Bots]] — Umbrella for social bots, botnets, cyborg accounts, LLM bots; account-level automation infrastructure used to amplify, manufacture-consensus, hashtag-flood, reply-pollute, follower-inflate, sentiment-manipulate, surveillance-monitor, DDoS-via-mention, and (post-2022) LLM-generate. Pair with [[Sockpuppet Accounts]] (human-operated) and [[Troll Farms]] (industrial scale).
- [[Cherry-Picking]] — The selective presentation of evidence that supports a desired conclusion while ignoring the contradicting evidence — locally accurate, globally misleading. Older formal-logic term *suppressed evidence*; the statistically-most-common disinformation technique in everyday political discourse. Climate-denial canonical operating environment ([[Merchants of Doubt]], Oreskes-Conway 2010).
- [[Clickbait]] — Headlines and thumbnails engineered to maximize click-through rate at the expense of accurate framing. BuzzFeed / Upworthy era ~2010+; the *gap between what the headline promises and what the linked content delivers* is the structural feature; rage-bait specialization at the political end. Engagement-economics structural pressure favors clickbait over accurate framing.
- [[Conspiracy Theory]] — An explanation attributing events to secret plots by powerful actors; ranges from legitimate skepticism of power to paranoid fantasy, with the label itself weaponized to dismiss both.
- [[DARVO]] — Freyd 1997. Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender. A four-step perpetrator response pattern documented in clinical abuse-dynamics and now widely-identified in institutional and political-leader rhetoric (Trump, Kavanaugh, authoritarian-leader response to investigation). Harsey-Freyd 2020 empirical study confirmed the reversal move's effectiveness in shifting third-party perception.
- [[Data Void]] — Golebiewski (Microsoft) 2018, developed with danah boyd (Data & Society). A search query with little or no authoritative content, so its results are easily captured by manipulators who pre-seed falsehoods or conspiracy content. Reframes disinformation as a *supply/infrastructure* problem; weaponized by the "do your own research" move that sends people to run exactly the empty searches the manipulators have prepared. Opposite tactic to the [[Firehose of Falsehood]] (flooding vs. colonizing emptiness).
- [[Dirty Tricks]] — Watergate-CREEP 1971–72 canonical case (Donald Segretti's *ratfucking* operations chronicled by Woodward-Bernstein in *[[All the President's Men]]*); Atwater 1988 / Stone 1972-present / Rove 2000 modern lineage; digital-era continuation through doxxing, sockpuppet accounts, [[Project Veritas]]-style operations, coordinated harassment. Asymmetric institutional infrastructure observation.
- [[Deep Fakes]] — Reddit user "deepfakes," 2017. AI-synthesized media of named individuals; the liar's-dividend dimension may matter more than any specific deep-fake operation.
- [[Doxxing]] — 1990s hacker-subculture origin; mass-audience transferred through Anonymous (2008–2011), GamerGate (2014), and post-2016 political harassment. Publishing a target's identifying information to enable downstream harassment, swatting, employer-pressure, vandalism, or violence. State-actor variants documented in GRU/Guccifer 2.0 / [[DCLeaks]] 2016.
- [[Echo Chamber]] — Media/social environment in which only confirming information circulates and outside sources are pre-discredited. Distinct from filter bubble — active vs. passive mechanism.
- [[Election Denialism]] — Post-2020 movement refusing certified election outcomes; parallel-constructed with *climate denial* / *Holocaust denial*; four nested phenomena (the claim, the movement, the 2024 candidate slate, the administrative-capture strategy). Partitions the same phenomenon as [[The Big Lie]] (the single claim) and [[Stop the Steal]] (the 2020–21 mobilization).
- [[Fact-Checking]] — Double-life category: journalistic practice + institutional infrastructure. FactCheck.org (2003), PolitiFact (2007), *WaPo* Fact Checker (2007), Snopes (1994), IFCN (2015). The 2016+ platform-side third-party fact-checker program operating until Meta's January 2025 discontinuation. 2022–2024 right-wing *Censorship Industrial Complex* rebrand-attempt has substantially weakened the infrastructure.
- [[Fake Audience]] — Manufactured appearance of public support, attention, or engagement. Pre-internet *claqueur* tradition; *NYT 2018 Follower Factory* investigation of Devumi follower-broker operations as digital-era inflection. Trump-rally documented attendance manipulation; Spicer-Conway *alternative facts* on inauguration crowd size as canonical strategic-deployment moment.
- [[Fake News]] — Originally a media-literacy term for fabricated content; deliberately rebranded by Trump from late 2016 into a generic press-attack weapon. Cleanest case study in modern American "concept capture."
- [[False Equivalence]] — Bothsidesism. Rhetorical/journalistic move presenting two unequally-supported claims as equally credible; the asymmetric-conflict version is the analytically interesting one.
- [[Filter Bubble]] — Pariser, 2011. Algorithmically-personalized information environment. Distinct from echo chamber — design-level vs. social mechanism.
- [[Flood the Zone]] — Steve Bannon's strategy of overwhelming the public with so many stories, scandals, and distractions that truth becomes impossible to isolate; information overload as deliberate political strategy. The American formulation of the Russian *firehose of falsehood* model.
- [[Gaslighting]] — Hamilton 1938 thriller *[[Gas Light]]* → 1944 Cukor film → Barton-Wilbur 1969 clinical paper → Stern 2007 abuse-dynamics → Duca *Teen Vogue* Dec 2016 political-transfer → Merriam-Webster 2022 Word of the Year. The five-feature reality-undermining pattern in clinical setting now applied to mass-political deployment.
- [[Hate Speech]] — Contested legal-and-rhetorical category. UDHR 1948 / ICCPR 1966 international human-rights vocabulary; *no [[First Amendment]] status* in US (Brandenburg / Skokie / R.A.V. / Snyder / Matal); Matsuda 1989 critical-race-theory campus-speech-code era; 2010s platform content-moderation operational use; 2020s right-wing rebrand-attempt to delegitimize the category itself.
- [[Horseshoe Theory (Disinformation)]] — Faye, 1996. Political-spectrum metaphor claiming far-left/far-right convergence; deployable as respectable-sounding false-equivalence vehicle.
- [[Information Overload]] — Gross 1964 / Toffler *[[Future Shock]]* 1970. Cognitive-capacity-vs-volume mismatch; the *deliberate weaponization* of overload as propaganda strategy in the Russian *firehose of falsehood* model (Paul-Matthews RAND 2016) and Bannon's *flood the zone with shit* American formulation. WHO *infodemic* terminology emerged in 2020 COVID-era pandemic.
- [[Just Asking Questions]] — Chan-culture meta-vocabulary *JAQing off*. Interrogative-form claim-advancement that retains plausible deniability. [[Tucker Carlson]] [[Fox News]] canonical contemporary case (the *McDougal v. Fox* 2020 federal defense argued no reasonable viewer would treat Carlson's framings as factual assertions); [[Glenn Beck]] / [[Bill O'Reilly]] antecedents. High-deployment topics include birtherism, Sandy Hook, Pizzagate, COVID origin, election denialism, trans-related coverage, vaccines, and Ukraine war.
- [[Media Bias]] — Contested category with two distinct lives: (a) academic empirical-research finding mixed patterns; (b) rhetorical-political deployment as half-century right-wing strategic project to delegitimize mainstream press. Agnew November 1969 Des Moines speech inflection (ghostwritten by Buchanan + Safire); AIM 1969 → MRC 1987 → Fox News 1996 institutional infrastructure; *working the refs* mechanism.
- [[Marxist]] — Right-wing rhetorical deployment of *Marxist* as generic delegitimization label. Cold War HUAC / McCarthy / Buckley 1951 *[[God and Man at Yale]]* foundational; post-2010 intensification targeting BLM, CRT, the professoriate, mainstream press, the Democratic Party, DEI programs, climate-action advocates. Concept-capture operation parallel to [[Fake News]] / [[Hate Speech]]; mutual reinforcement with [[Cultural Marxism]] conspiracy-theory; documented anti-Semitic adjacency.
- [[Meme Warfare]] — Strategic deployment of internet memes as instruments of political-discourse manipulation. Two converging lineages: military strategic-communications (Marines 2006; Giesea NATO StratCom 2015) + chan-culture self-vocabulary (~2014+). 2016 cycle inflection; Pepe / Kekistan / Centipedes; documented downstream-violence connection (Christchurch / El Paso / January 6 manifesto citations); LLM-era 2024+ specialization.
- [[Microtargeting]] — Direct-marketing vocabulary (1990s) → [[Karl Rove]] 2004 → [[Cambridge Analytica]] 2014–2018. Decomposition of a campaign into thousands of narrow audience-segment messages; structural-discourse-fragmentation argument; the Wylie disclosures and FTC $5B Facebook penalty as inflection points.
- [[Moving the Goalposts]] — Rhetorical move of raising the criterion for accepting a claim after evidence meets the prior criterion. Climate-denial canonical sustained-deployment case (decade-by-decade shift through *is it changing? → human-caused? → dangerous? → actionable?*); post-2020 election-denialism contemporary canonical case (fraud → Dominion → chain-of-custody → voter-rolls → algorithmic manipulation → mail-in voting). Cousins: Cherry-Picking, JAQ, Whataboutism, the Gish Gallop.
- [[Misinformation]] — Wardle-Derakhshan Council of Europe 2017 *Information Disorder* framework: the intent-distinct sibling of [[Disinformation Hub]] (with intent) and *malinformation* (true-information weaponized). Operational backbone of CIB framework and academic disinformation-research vocabulary; targeted by 2022–2024 right-wing rebrand-attempts to delegitimize the term itself.
- [[Moral Panic]] — Cohen 1972 *Folk Devils and Moral Panics*; Hall et al. *[[Policing the Crisis]]* (1978). Disproportionate media-amplified alarm about a folk-devil threat; American case-study sequence ([[Satanic Panic]], crack-baby, super-predator, sharia, CRT, anti-grooming, anti-DEI); Rufo's openly-stated 2020+ strategy as explicit operationalization of the Cohen model.
- [[Overton Window]] — [[Joseph Overton]] ([[Mackinac Center]]) ~1994; Lehman post-2003 formalization. Strategic-discourse-shift model. The right-wing-authoritarian project documented in this knowledge base reads as a 40-year successful Overton-shift program in tax, regulatory, immigration, and election-administration vocabulary.
- [[Paralipsis]] — The rhetorical technique of raising a subject by claiming not to raise it; "I won't even mention that my opponent..." — Trump's signature move. Launders accusations through disavowal.
- [[Political Correctness]] — Originally a left-wing self-critique of doctrinaire thinking; reframed by the right as an accusation of censorship, now a permanent fixture in the culture-war lexicon. The vocabulary-politics around the term mirror the [[Fake News]] / [[Hate Speech]] concept-capture pattern.
- [[Photo Manipulation]] — Pre-digital darkroom-manipulation tradition → Stalin-era systematic-purging of photographs (canonical case: King 1997 *[[The Commissar Vanishes]]*) → Photoshop era 1990–2017 → generative-AI deepfakes era 2017+. Direct analytical continuity with [[Deep Fakes]]; Hany Farid academic-forensic field founding; C2PA / Content Authenticity Initiative provenance-infrastructure response.
- [[Psychographic Profiling]] — Big Five / OCEAN personality model (Costa-McCrae 1985+); Kosinski-Stillwell-Graepel PNAS 2013 *digital-footprint-predicts-personality* paper; Cambridge Analytica 2014–2018 commercial deployment via [[Aleksandr Kogan]] / *thisisyourdigitallife* harvest of ~87M Facebook profiles; [[Christopher Wylie]] 2018 disclosures; effectiveness-claim controversy (real-but-modest effect vs. firm's inflated marketing claims); LLM-era cost-reduction-and-realism-escalation.
- [[Post-Truth]] — Tesich 1992 → Keyes 2004 → OED Word-of-Year 2016. Cultural-political condition in which factual claims are demoted relative to emotional resonance; the "post-" structure is the analytical interest.
- [[Prebunking]] — McGuire 1961 inoculation theory; revived by van der Linden / Roozenbeek (Cambridge Social Decision-Making Lab). Audience-side inoculation against manipulation *technique patterns* rather than after-the-fact correction. *Bad News* game (2018), Jigsaw [[YouTube]] prebunking campaigns in 2022 European elections. Necessary-but-not-sufficient counter-disinformation strategy.
- [[Propaganda Feedback Loop]] — Benkler / Faris / Roberts *Network Propaganda* (Oxford 2018). The central diagnostic concept for the structural-asymmetry analysis of the American post-2016 information environment. Right-wing media ecosystem operates as relatively-closed hub-and-spoke architecture in which component outlets reinforce each other rather than cross-check; produces propaganda effects *even without bad-faith intent at any individual node*. 2020 election denialism is the cleanest natural experiment.
- [[Selective Exposure]] — The tendency to preferentially seek out information aligned with existing beliefs and avoid disconfirming information. Lazarsfeld *People's Choice* (1944) → Festinger *[[Cognitive Dissonance]]* (1957) → Klapper *Effects of Mass Communication* (1960); post-2000 high-choice media-environment dramatic intensification (Sunstein *Republic.com*; Prior *Post-Broadcast Democracy*; Pariser *Filter Bubble*). One contributing mechanism among several producing polarization, not the full story.
- [[Shitposting]] — Deliberately low-quality / off-topic / absurdist / ironic / transgressive online posting. Chan-and-forum culture origin (*Something Awful* / 4chan ~2007+). Strategic taxonomy: in-group recreational / opposition disruption / demoralization operations / deniable-extremism delivery / radicalization-pipeline cover / aggregate-discourse degradation / strategic-incoherence-as-protective-coloration. Post-irony as plausible-deniability layer (Phillips-Milner 2017). 2024+ mainstreaming via Musk-X and Biden / Harris *Dark Brandon* counter-operation.
- [[Sockpuppet Accounts]] — Pre-internet *plant* tradition → Usenet 1993 → Wikipedia administrative vocabulary 2004 → Operation Earnest Voice 2011 CENTCOM persona-management contract. The account-level building block of troll-farm, astroturf, and harassment operations; CIB framework; LLM-era detection-arms-race escalation.
- [[Source Amnesia]] — Cognitive phenomenon in which a person retains a belief or claim but forgets where it came from. Marcia Johnson source-monitoring framework (1993); sleeper effect (Hovland-Weiss 1951); illusory truth effect (Hasher-Goldstein-Toppino 1977). Source attribution decays substantially faster than message content; even effectively-corrected misinformation leaves cognitive residue. Constrains fact-checking effectiveness; explains why upstream interventions outperform corrections.
- [[Source Credibility]] — Audience-perceived trustworthiness and expertise of the source of a communication. Aristotle's *ethos* → Hovland-Janis-Kelley *Communication and Persuasion* (Yale 1953); two-axis construct (expertise + trustworthiness); contemporary strategic-manipulation operations include source-laundering, credibility-undermining of legitimate sources, counterfeit-credibility construction, anti-fact-checker delegitimization. Interacts with [[Source Amnesia]] via the sleeper effect.
- [[The Memory Hole]] — Orwell *Nineteen Eighty-Four* (1949) coinage; Stalin-era Soviet historical-revision real-world model; digital-era escalation in both directions (easier to delete specific items, harder to fully delete given [[Internet Archive]] preservation). Documented Trump-era operations include systematic tweet-deletion, federal-website content scrubbing, inauguration-photograph manipulation. 2025+ second-administration substantial intensification of federal-record-deletion operations. Mutual reinforcement with [[Gaslighting]] — the documentary-record companion to the perception-manipulation operation.
- [[Trial Balloon]] — Deliberately leaking a policy idea to gauge public reaction before committing to it; allows retreat if the response is negative.
- [[Troll Farms]] — IRA Saint Petersburg template (55 Savushkina, 2013–2023). Coordinated industrial-scale operation with shift work, scripted personae, daily quotas. Global proliferation across China (Wumao), Iran, India (BJP IT Cell), [[Saudi Arabia]], Philippines, Brazil (*Gabinete do Ódio*), Mexico (Peñabots). Modest direct-persuasion effect; larger structural-discourse-degradation effect.
- [[Truth Decay]] — The RAND Corporation's term for the diminishing role of facts in public discourse, driven by disagreement over basic data, blurred lines between opinion and fact, declining trust in institutions, and information overload. Compresses several structural-diagnostic categories into a single research framework.
- [[Viral Misinformation]] — Vosoughi-Roy-Aral *Science* 2018 (MIT Media Lab Laboratory for Social Machines): false content spreads faster, farther, deeper than true content on Twitter across virtually all topic categories; human-share behavior (not bots) is the principal driver; novelty and emotional-activation are the operative mechanisms. Pandemic-era natural experiment confirmed; structural challenge to fact-checking-after-the-fact strategies.
- [[Whataboutism]] — Deflecting criticism by pointing to someone else's wrongdoing; the Soviet-era rhetorical technique perfected by Russian propaganda and adopted wholesale by the American right. Cousin to [[Cherry-Picking]], [[Just Asking Questions]], and [[Moving the Goalposts]].
- [[Wallpaper Effect]] — Conditioning produced by saturating a media environment with a single narrative across multiple shows / hosts / time slots until it becomes the unexamined cognitive background. [[Roger Ailes]]-era Fox News programming discipline as canonical case; Sinclair Broadcast Group local-TV variant; cousin-but-distinct from echo chamber / Network Propaganda / Manufacturing Consent. Media Matters for America as the dedicated monitoring infrastructure.
- [[Whisper Campaign]] — Coordinated rumor / smear operation through informal channels so claims circulate without identifiable originator and without clean grounds for public rebuttal. Pre-internet political-attack vocabulary at least to 1800 Adams-Jefferson cycle; canonical modern cases include [[Lee Atwater]] 1988 ([[Willie Horton]] + Dukakis-mental-health) and Karl Rove 2000 (McCain illegitimate-Black-daughter South Carolina). Digital-era continuation through anonymous social-media seeding, encrypted-channel chain messages, push-poll evolution. Strategic logic preserved despite the technology change.
- [[White Terrorism]] — The category of political-violence operations motivated by white-nationalist, white-supremacist, or white-identitarian ideology. Canonical post-1995 American cases include Oklahoma City, Charleston, Charlottesville, Pittsburgh, Christchurch, El Paso, Buffalo. Empirically the largest American domestic-terrorism category by fatality count per CSIS / START / ADL / FBI internal data. The Terminology entry's analytical interest is in the *vocabulary politics around the category* — the sustained right-wing project to redefine, qualify, obscure, or substitute the category, with documented institutional-capacity consequences from the 2009 DHS report withdrawal forward.
- [[Yellow Journalism]] — 1890s Hearst/Pulitzer New York newspaper wars; the historical-analogy term for sensationalist accuracy-displacing journalism. Recurs across media-technology transitions.

## Media ecosystem and platform vocabulary
How the right names — and attacks — the press and the platforms: terms for delegitimizing mainstream journalism, the language of platform dynamics, and the culture-war labels the right-wing media ecosystem deploys. Entries live in `/Terminology/Media/` unless noted.
### Media ecosystem labels
Terms that categorize and attack media institutions.
- [[Legacy Media]] — the right's replacement term for "mainstream media"; implies these outlets are relics of a dying era, delegitimizing them through obsolescence rather than bias
- [[Lamestream Media]] — Sarah Palin's coinage; the more openly contemptuous version of "legacy media," treating mainstream journalism as both biased and incompetent
- [[Mainstream]] — the seemingly neutral descriptor that has become a rhetorical target; "mainstream" now signals establishment consensus, and rejecting the mainstream is an identity marker
- [[Enemy of the People]] — Trump's characterization of the press, borrowed directly from authoritarian tradition (Stalin used the same phrase); reframes journalism from accountability mechanism to existential threat
- [[Deep State (Media Vocabulary)]] — when used in media contexts, the claim that journalists, tech platforms, and intelligence agencies form a coordinated apparatus to suppress conservative viewpoints; the conspiracy theory that explains why the right loses the information war
### Platform and digital culture
The language of social media dynamics as experienced through the right-wing lens.
- [[Blue Checks]] — originally Twitter's verification badge for notable accounts; became a class signifier after Musk made verification purchasable, splitting "legacy" blue checks (establishment media, liberals) from paid subscribers (Musk allies)
- [[Deplatforming]] — removing individuals or organizations from social media platforms for violating terms of service; framed by the right as censorship and by platforms as content moderation
- [[Engagement Farming]] — deliberately posting provocative or emotionally manipulative content to maximize algorithmic distribution; the business model that rewards outrage over accuracy
- [[Ratio]] — when a social media post receives far more critical replies than likes, indicating the community rejects the original message; a form of decentralized accountability or mob justice depending on perspective
- [[Based]] — internet slang meaning boldly expressing a viewpoint regardless of social consequences; originated in hip-hop culture, adopted by the alt-right to praise those who defy progressive norms
### Rhetorical weaponry
Terms the right deploys to discredit opponents and frame the culture war.
- [[Redpilled]] — from The Matrix: having awakened to a hidden truth the mainstream conceals; the foundational metaphor of right-wing radicalization, applicable to everything from gender politics to election fraud
- [[SJW]] — "Social Justice Warrior"; the pejorative for anyone advocating progressive social causes, implying performative morality and authoritarian impulses
- [[Woke]] — originally Black American vernacular for social awareness; co-opted by the right as a catch-all pejorative for progressive politics, DEI, and identity-based advocacy
- [[Globalist]] — ostensibly refers to supporters of international cooperation; in practice functions as a code word with antisemitic undertones, implying a shadowy international elite controlling nations
- [[Groomer]] — the accusation that LGBTQ+ people and their allies are sexually predatory toward children; the rhetorical escalation that reframes civil rights advocacy as child abuse
- [[Weaponized]] — the prefix that transforms any legitimate government function into an accusation of political persecution: "weaponized DOJ," "weaponized FBI," "weaponized media"
- [[Manufactured Consent]] — Noam Chomsky and Edward Herman's thesis that mass media systematically serves elite interests through self-censorship, source selection, and framing; adopted across the political spectrum as a critique of media complicity
- [[Happy Talk]] — upbeat, conflict-avoidant local news coverage that avoids accountability journalism in favor of human-interest pablum; the media model that creates information vacuums disinformation fills
- [[Narrative]] — in media criticism, the predetermined story framework that shapes how events are covered; "controlling the narrative" is the central preoccupation of both media strategists and their critics
## Right-wing-media coinages and slurs (separate sub-queue)
These are vocabulary deployed *by* the right-wing-media ecosystem rather than vocabulary describing it. Best built as a coordinated batch since they form a network:
- [x] [[Based]] / [[Redpilled]] / [[Black-pilled]] — manosphere → 4chan → mainstream-right pipeline vocabulary
- [x] [[Woke]] — rebranded from Black activist origins to right-wing slur (~2018 onward)
- [x] [[Groomer]] — accusation deployed against LGBTQ+ educators and adjacent figures (~2022 onward)
- [ ] "RINO" — Republican In Name Only; loyalty-policing
- [x] [[Globalist]] — antisemitic dogwhistle dressed as policy; cross-cutting flat-file candidate
- [x] [[Drain the Swamp]] — 2016 campaign slogan; populist anti-establishment framing
- [ ] "[[America First]]" — Trump campaign slogan with America-First-Committee historical resonance
- [ ] "Silent majority" — Nixon-era; recurring rhetorical move
- [ ] "Witch hunt" — applied to Mueller, January 6 committee, both impeachments
- [ ] "Hoax" — applied to Russia investigation, climate change, COVID
- [x] [[Enemy of the People]] — Stalinist phrase rebranded for press attacks
- [ ] "Real Americans" / "heartland" / "patriots" — in-group identity vocabulary
The above cluster is bigger than a single batch — likely will need its own Terminology subfolder (`Terminology/MAGA/` or `Terminology/Right-Wing Media/`) once 10–15 entries exist.
