# Sabin Center for Climate Change Law
Research center at Columbia Law School. Its central contribution to the [[Climate Accountability Movement]] is **infrastructural rather than advocacy**: it maintains the Climate Change Litigation Databases at `climatecasechart.com`, the comprehensive public docket of U.S. and international climate cases, and publishes regular Climate Litigation Updates.
**Why an index counts as movement infrastructure.** Roughly two dozen U.S. climate liability cases are proceeding simultaneously across state and federal courts, at different procedural stages, with overlapping defendants and diverging theories. Without a common public record, no journalist, plaintiff's office, or researcher could see the docket as a single campaign — which is precisely how a distributed litigation strategy becomes illegible and therefore unreportable. The database is the reason the movement can be described at all.
