# William Crown
**William "Bill" Crown** (b. ~1963) is the son of John J. Crown (Henry Crown's other line, distinct from [[Lester Crown]]'s branch), and president and CEO of [[Henry Crown and Company]] since January 2025 — succeeding his cousin [[James Crown]], who died in a racetrack crash in 2023.
## Background
- B.S. and M.S. in industrial engineering and engineering management, Stanford University
- Began career at American Airlines (ticket-pricing strategy)
- Joined HCC in 1993
- Previously co-president and COO of HCC; CEO of CC Industries (oversaw industrial manufacturing investments)
- Director of Alltel Telephone Company; director/chairman of Eltek ASA
- Chair of the Arie and Ida Crown Memorial board at [[Crown Family Philanthropies]]
## Why he matters for the KB
Bill Crown represents the other branch of the [[Crown Family]] dynasty — descended from Henry Crown through a different son than [[Lester Crown]]. His elevation to CEO after [[James Crown]]'s death shows how the dynasty's internal power dynamics shifted in response to tragedy. He works alongside [[A. Steven Crown]] (executive chairman) in the current HCC leadership structure. He is a node in the [[Crown Family]] dynasty page.
