# Tom Fitton
**Thomas Fitton** (born 1968) is the president of [[Judicial Watch]] and one of the right's most prolific media activists. In [[Dave Troy]]'s "[[The Big History Behind January 6th]]" Part 3, Fitton opens the essay as a case study — "Tom Fitton is an idea" — a manufactured conservative operative who is the deliberate product of [[Paul Weyrich]] and [[William S. Lind]]'s decades-long plan to grow a generation of movement leaders using [[Fourth Generation Warfare]] techniques.
## The manufactured pundit
Fitton did not emerge organically. A George Washington University English graduate, he was groomed inside the Weyrich apparatus:
- In 1994–95 he appeared on **"Youngbloods,"** a show on Weyrich's [[National Empowerment Television]] pitched as a conservative answer to MTV's *The Real World*, cast as the "resident flamethrower." His co-stars included future CBS anchor [[Norah O'Donnell]] and future State Department spokeswoman [[Heather Nauert]].
- He passed through the movement's training and messaging institutions — the [[Leadership Institute]], [[Accuracy in Media]], America's Voice, and the International Policy Forum.
Troy's point, drawing on the Political Research Associates study "Battle Without Bullets," is that Fitton, O'Donnell, and Nauert are the *intended output* of a 25-year pipeline: the Lind–Weyrich project to seed conservative talent into media and politics. Fitton is the archetype; [[Charlie Kirk]] is the model of someone following the same trajectory a generation later.
## Judicial Watch
Fitton joined [[Judicial Watch]] — the conservative legal-activist group founded in 1994 by [[Larry Klayman]] — and became its president in 2003 after Klayman left. Under Fitton, Judicial Watch became a prodigious filer of Freedom of Information Act lawsuits, a fundraising machine, and a relentless amplifier of anti-Clinton, anti-Obama, and (later) "voter fraud" narratives, with Fitton himself a fixture on Twitter and Fox News.
He is a member of the [[Council for National Policy]], placing him inside the secretive network Troy identifies as the organizing spine of the movement.
