# Todd Achilles **Todd Achilles** is running as an independent against [[Jim Risch]] for U.S. Senate in Idaho in 2026 — and, after Democratic nominee David Roth withdrew (July 28) and removed his name from the ballot (September 2), he is the only non-Republican candidate with a campaign. An Army veteran (1992–1995), longtime technology executive and Boise State instructor (Claremont McKenna; UW MA/MBA; Berkeley MPP), he served in the Idaho House for District 16 from February 2024 to June 2025, elected as a Democrat, and resigned to run unaffiliated. He is endorsed by AFGE and the Forward Party. Polling is split by sponsor: the Achilles-aligned Bullfinch Group had him ahead 38–33 in mid-August, a Republican poll had Risch 52–18, and the aggregate is Risch by about 12. He had raised $692,000 with $194,000 on hand through June 30. Roth has not endorsed him. The race is the 2026 case where the [[Dan Osborn]] model was actually executed — the Democrat left.
