# Stuart Levenbach
The [[Chief Statistician of the United States]] since January 2026, succeeding Mark Calabria after roughly six months in the post. The seat turned over twice between June 2025 and January 2026.
The office administers [[Statistical Policy Directive No. 1]] and [[Statistical Policy Directive No. 15]] and chairs the Interagency Council on Statistical Policy. It is not Senate-confirmed and carries no fixed term, which is the structural point recorded in [[Federal Statistical System Tree]]: the independence of the federal statistical system rests on directives issued from an office that any administration can fill at will.
