# Stevan Pearce Director of the [[Bureau of Land Management]], confirmed by the Senate on **2026-05-18** on a party-line vote — the first Senate-confirmed BLM director of the second Trump administration, after roughly sixteen months in which the agency that manages 244.4 million acres had no confirmed head. Before the appointment he was a Republican member of the U.S. House from New Mexico's 2nd congressional district and subsequently chair of the Republican Party of New Mexico. He came to politics from the oilfield services business. His confirmation followed a period of heavy turnover among BLM state directors, and it placed a confirmed director atop the agency at the moment the Bureau was executing the rescission of the [[Public Lands Rule]] and proposing to revoke the Chaco-area mineral withdrawal. Not to be confused with [[David Pearce]], an unrelated figure in this vault. ## See also - [[Federal Land Management Crosswalk]] - [[Bureau of Land Management]] - [[Department of the Interior]] - [[Doug Burgum]]
