# Sparkle Sooknanan
**Sparkle Sooknanan** is a U.S. District Judge for the District of Columbia. On **June 22, 2026**, in the case brought by the [[League of Women Voters]] and the Electronic Privacy Information Center, she blocked the administration's expanded SAVE citizenship-verification system — rebuilt to pull in U.S.-born citizens' records and Social Security data for state voter-roll checks — finding it violated the Privacy Act, the Social Security Act and the Administrative Procedure Act. She wrote that "the federal government has knowingly trampled on the privacy rights of American citizens in a manner that threatens the sacred right to vote." The D.C. Circuit declined to stay her order on Sept 4, but on **Sept 25, 2026** the Supreme Court stayed it 6–3 (No. 26A308), restoring the system pending appeal. See [[SAVE Act]] for the ruling in context.
