# Sid Richardson
Sid W. Richardson (1891–1959) was a Fort Worth oil and cattle magnate, one of the wealthiest men in mid-century America, and a pillar of the Texas oil-money establishment alongside [[H.L. Hunt]] and his close associate [[Clint Murchison]]. Richardson made his fortune in West Texas oil and became a power broker in national politics, cultivating ties to figures across both parties and helping shape the conservative Texas donor tradition that grew out of the industry [[Spindletop]] launched.
His fortune later endowed the Sid Richardson Foundation. Richardson belongs to the cohort of Texas oilmen whose petroleum wealth translated into political influence — the mid-century predecessors of the modern [[Dark Money]] donor class.
