# Randy Credico
**Randy Credico** is a New York comedian, radio host and perennial left-wing protest candidate whom [[Roger Stone]] falsely named as his backchannel to [[WikiLeaks]] — and whom Stone was then convicted of threatening.
## Background
A former *Tonight Show* comic, Credico ran against Chuck Schumer (2010), for New York mayor (2013, 2.0%) and against Andrew Cuomo (2014, 3.6%).
## The claimed backchannel
Credico interviewed [[Julian Assange]] on his radio show on August 25, 2016, and two days later texted Stone that Assange had "kryptonite on Hillary." In November 2017 Stone told the House Intelligence Committee that Credico was his intermediary to Assange. Prosecutors said that was false — that Stone named Credico partly to protect [[Jerome Corsi]].
## Witness tampering
When Credico was called to testify, Stone urged him to "stonewall it," "plead the fifth," do a "Frank Pentangeli" (the *Godfather Part II* witness who recants), and "prepare to die," and threatened to "take that dog away from you" — Credico's dog, Bianca. Stone was indicted on seven counts in January 2019 and convicted on all seven (lying to Congress, witness tampering, obstruction) on November 15, 2019; Credico testified at trial. Judge Amy Berman Jackson sentenced Stone to 40 months in February 2020. Trump commuted the sentence on July 10, 2020 and pardoned Stone on December 23, 2020.
**Current status:** not verified after 2019.
## RWKB angle
Credico is the victim in the one count of Stone's case that was about intimidating a witness — the conviction Trump's clemency erased. See [[Pardon Power]].
