# Pete Brownell Iowa gun-industry executive, owner and CEO of the firearms-accessories retailer Brownells, and [[NRA]] president from 2017 to 2018. As NRA First Vice President he led the **December 2015 NRA delegation to Moscow**, whose confirmed participants also included [[David Keene]] and [[David Clarke]]. The delegation toured a Russian gun maker and met with [[Maria Butina]]'s group The Right to Bear Arms (NRA Watch; senators' July 2018 letter). Wikipedia lists Brownell among the funders of Clarke's roughly $40,000 trip. He resigned from the NRA board in May 2019 amid the New York Attorney General's investigation and reports that the NRA Foundation had bought millions of dollars of merchandise from Crow Shooting Supply, a Brownells-owned company (Washington Post via NRA Watch).
