# Paige Cognetti **Paige Cognetti** is the Mayor of Scranton, Pennsylvania, and the 2026 Democratic nominee for the U.S. House in PA-08, challenging freshman Republican [[Rob Bresnahan]]. A former U.S. Treasury official with a finance/SEC-adjacent background, she runs as an anti-corruption "watchdog" centrist in the Josh Shapiro mold and has made Bresnahan's congressional stock trades a central attack. She won the May 19, 2026 primary effectively unopposed and was added to the DCCC "Red to Blue" program. See [[PA-08-2026]] for full race context. ## Related - [[PA-08-2026]] - [[Rob Bresnahan]]
