# Nathan Wade **Nathan Wade** is the Georgia attorney appointed by Fulton County District Attorney [[Fani Willis]] as special prosecutor to lead the state's election-racketeering case against [[Donald Trump]] and 18 co-defendants. A defence motion in January 2024 disclosed that Wade and Willis had been in a personal relationship, and that Wade was paid from the case. Judge Scott McAfee ruled on **March 15, 2024** that the arrangement created a "significant appearance of impropriety" and required one of the two to leave; **Wade resigned the following day**. The remedy did not survive appeal — on **December 19, 2024** the Georgia Court of Appeals disqualified Willis and her whole office as well, and the case was ultimately dismissed on **November 26, 2025**. Wade's name reappeared in national politics on **September 29, 2026**, when [[Eric Schmitt]] built a [[Senate Judiciary Committee]] perjury accusation against [[Jack Smith]] around an alleged meeting with Wade and Willis at an Atlanta basketball game. The premise was false; Smith had been at a University of Maryland–University of Iowa game and testified he had never met either of them. > [!info] Stub > Created 2026-09-30 to resolve inbound references from six existing pages.
