# Mondaire Jones **Mondaire Jones** (b. 1987) is a Democratic former U.S. Representative from New York's Hudson Valley, one of the first openly gay Black members of Congress, who served a single term (2021–2023) before redistricting upended his seat. He attempted a comeback in 2024 but lost the NY-17 race to Republican [[Mike Lawler]]. He appears in the KB in the context of New York's competitive suburban districts and the 2024–2026 House battleground, as well as the right's culture-war targeting of progressive figures. This is a stub — expand with the redistricting saga and the 2024 race.
