# Mike Johnston Democratic Mayor of Denver since 2023, a former state senator and educator. His tenure has centered on one of the country's largest per-capita migrant influxes, and he testified at the March 5, 2025 House Oversight 'Sanctuary City Mayors' hearing alongside the mayors of Boston, Chicago, and New York, defending Denver's approach against Republican accusations. He drew earlier attention for suggesting residents might physically resist federal immigration raids, comments he later walked back.
