# Mike Collins
Republican U.S. Representative for **Georgia's 10th congressional district** since 2022, and the **2026 Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in Georgia**, facing [[Jon Ossoff]] in one of the cycle's marquee races.
## Path to the nomination
Neither Collins nor former Tennessee football coach Derek Dooley cleared a majority in Georgia's May 19 primary, sending the race to the state's majority-rule runoff. **Collins won the June 16 runoff 55–45** after a late [[Donald Trump]] endorsement — Dooley had been the recruit preferred by parts of the national party.
The endorsement's role here is worth holding against the rest of the summer: Trump endorsements failed in three Florida and Wyoming primaries on Aug 18, and carried Oklahoma's governor runoff by 2,020 votes on Aug 25. Georgia in June was the endorsement working cleanly.
## Background
- Son of former Rep. Mac Collins, who represented Georgia in the U.S. House — a second-generation officeholder.
- Business degree from Georgia State University. Built **Collins Trucking** from a single semi at 25 into a company employing over 100 people, hauling pine and hardwood logs to Georgia-Pacific mills.
- In the House, serves on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Highways & Transit subcommittee — a committee assignment matched to the business background.
## Positioning
Campaigns as a self-described "MAGA warrior," hard-line on immigration and culture-war issues. Has echoed Trump's claims that the 2020 election was rigged in Georgia and nationally — claims that were adjudicated and rejected; see [[Stop the Steal]].
## 2026 general election
- Trails Ossoff in every public poll since the runoff: InsiderAdvantage had it 50–43 on Aug 18, Fox News had a double-digit gap in early August, and the RCP average sat at Ossoff +7.5 in late August, with RCP nonetheless rating the race Toss Up on fundamentals.
- Debates Ossoff at **Assembly Atlanta on Oct 8**, the only firmly locked-in general-election debate of the cycle in a top-tier Senate race.

> Created 2026-08-31 to resolve links from [[GA-Sen-2026]]. House voting record, committee work, fundraising and the Collins Trucking business record are all unwritten. Disambiguation: not the Apollo 11 astronaut Michael Collins, and no relation to Maine Sen. [[Susan Collins]], who is on this cycle's ballot in her own right.
