# Michael Behe Michael Behe (b. 1952) is an American biochemist at Lehigh University and a senior fellow of the Discovery Institute, best known as the originator of the [[Irreducible Complexity]] argument in his 1996 book *Darwin's Black Box*. He is the most academically credentialed advocate of [[Intelligent Design]], which makes his arguments — and their thorough rejection by the biochemical mainstream — an unusually instructive case in the KB's study of credentialed pseudoscience. He testified for the defense in *Kitzmiller v. Dover* (2005), where the court ruled intelligent design was not science; his own university biology department publicly disavows his ID advocacy. > [!note] Stub > Minimum-viable page created to resolve inbound wikilinks.
