# Maye Musk **Maye Musk** (born 1948 in Regina, Saskatchewan) is the mother of [[Elon Musk]]: a model, a registered dietitian, an author, and her son's most visible public defender. She is the counterpoint to the estranged [[Errol Musk]]. She is in the vault mainly as a first-degree family tie, and as the link to her father, [[Joshua Haldeman]], whose politics are part of the Musk family history. ## Career - **Dietetics.** She holds master's degrees in dietetics and nutritional science and practised as a registered dietitian in South Africa and then Canada. - **Modeling.** She signed with IMG Models in 2016. In 2017, at 69, she became CoverGirl's oldest ambassador, and she was on the *Sports Illustrated* Swimsuit cover in 2022. - **Books.** Her memoir, *A Woman Makes a Plan* (2019), and *Timeless: The Art of Reinvention and Resilience at Any Age* (HarperCollins, September 15, 2026). ## The public role She defends Elon in interviews, most recently on the 2026 book tour: he "does whatever is best for America and what's best for the world," she told CBS, and "just wants to do good… you stand on a lot of toes." No sourced record shows her acting as a formal political surrogate, and her own statements about Trump could not be confirmed from two sources. ## Her father Joshua N. Haldeman, a chiropractor in Regina, was involved in Technocracy Incorporated in Canada from 1936 to 1941, and has been described as a leader of its Canadian branch (see [[Technocracy Incorporated]]). When the movement was banned in wartime Canada he was arrested in October 1940 and fined. He later led the Social Credit Party of Saskatchewan. In 1950 he moved the family to Pretoria, where he defended apartheid South Africa as a "White Christian Civilization." He died in a plane crash in 1974. The technocratic, anti-democratic strand in his politics is one reason the vault tracks the family. ## See Also - [[Elon Musk]] · [[Errol Musk]] · [[Kimbal Musk]] · [[Joshua Haldeman]] · [[Technocracy Incorporated]] - [[Elon Musk Inner Circle]] · [[South Africa]] · [[Apartheid]]
