# Max Boot
Max Boot is a [[Washington Post]] columnist, military historian, and foreign policy analyst who was a prominent [[Neoconservatism]] voice before breaking with the [[Republican Party]] over [[Donald Trump]]. A former editor at the Wall Street Journal and fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, Boot advocated for an interventionist American foreign policy during the [[Cold War]]'s aftermath.
Boot's 2018 book *The Corrosion of Conservatism* documented his departure from the movement. He has argued that Trumpism represents a fundamental betrayal of the internationalist, pro-democracy principles that once defined Republican foreign policy, aligning him with other Never Trump intellectuals who see [[MAGA]] as a break from the postwar conservative tradition.
