# London Breed 45th Mayor of San Francisco (2018–January 2025). First Black woman to lead the city. Lost the November 2024 mayoral race to [[Daniel Lurie]] in ranked-choice voting, 56–43 in the final round. The race was heavily funded by tech-moderate money, but most of the big money backed **Mark Farrell**, not Lurie: [[TogetherSF]] put about $5.4M behind Farrell and [[William Oberndorf]] $1.2M. [[GrowSF]] endorsed Breed, Farrell and Lurie "in any order." Lurie largely self-funded. See [[Daniel Lurie]]. Breed's tenure was central to the [[California Tech Exodus Ecosystem]] grievance narrative — the policing, homelessness, and downtown-recovery debates that the All-In crowd treated as evidence of Democratic mismanagement. ## See Also - [[Daniel Lurie]] - [[California Tech Exodus Ecosystem]] - [[Ron Conway]] — early Breed backer
