# Liz Cheney
Former Republican U.S. Representative for Wyoming's at-large district (2017–2023), daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, and one of two Republicans (with [[Adam Kinzinger]]) who served on the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 attack. Lost her 2022 primary to a Trump-endorsed challenger by ~37 points after voting to impeach Trump and serving as the Select Committee's vice chair. Endorsed [[Kamala Harris]] in 2024.
## Why she's in the KB
Cheney is in the vault primarily as the most prominent Republican target of Trump's eliminationist rhetoric, not as a right-wing actor in the contemporary MAGA sense — her own foreign-policy and domestic conservatism remain firmly on the right, but she has been systematically expelled from the post-2020 Republican coalition for refusing to ratify Trump's election lie.
The October 31, 2024 Glendale, Arizona event with [[Tucker Carlson]] at which Trump said "let's put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her" is the canonical receipt for the inversion pattern: Trump frames Cheney as the dangerous "war hawk" while himself describing what would constitute her execution. See [[Donald Trump - Liz Cheney nine barrels]].
Trump has separately suggested Cheney should be tried by military tribunal.
