# Lee Jae-myung **Lee Jae-myung** is the Democratic Party president of [[South Korea]]. He won the snap election of 3 June 2025 that followed [[Yoon Suk Yeol]]'s removal. His government closed the $350 billion investment-for-tariffs deal with the Trump administration in October 2025. In the June 2026 local elections his party won 12 of 16 top races but lost Seoul. In August 2026 he said Trump's cut to joint exercises came without prior notice.
