# Jonathan Sackler
**Jonathan D. Sackler** (1955 – June 30, 2020; he died at 65) was the son of [[Raymond Sackler]] and [[Beverly Sackler]] and brother of [[Richard Sackler]]. He served on the [[Purdue Pharma]] board through the [[OxyContin]] era.
Outside of pharma, Jonathan was best known as a **charter-school and education-reform philanthropist**. He co-founded ConnCAN (Connecticut Coalition for Achievement Now), funded 50CAN and other state-level charter-advocacy organizations, and was a board member of the Achievement First charter network. The education-reform footprint was politically distinct from the broader Sackler philanthropy in being engaged with US public policy rather than primarily underwriting cultural and biomedical institutions.
Jonathan died June 2020 — fifteen months before the initial bankruptcy-plan confirmation. His estate is one of the eight board-member heirs (Side B) in the 2025 $7.4B settlement.
