# John Eisenberg **Status: stub — expand.** **John A. Eisenberg** has led the [[Department of Justice]]'s **National Security Division** since June 2025. In the first Trump term he was Legal Adviser to the National Security Council and Deputy White House Counsel for national security — the lawyer who moved the transcript of the July 2019 Trump–Zelensky call onto a restricted server, an act that became a central fact of the first impeachment. The National Security Division houses counterterrorism and counterintelligence prosecution, the [[FARA]] enforcement unit, and the office that handles applications to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court. ## See also - [[Department of Justice]] · [[DOJ Component Tree]] - [[FARA]] · [[FISA Court]]
