# Jeanne Marrazzo **Jeanne Marrazzo** is an infectious-disease physician who directed the [[NIAID]] (National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases), the [[NIH]] institute long led by Anthony Fauci, from August 2023. She was removed from the post on March 31, 2025, put on leave and offered a reassignment to the Indian Health Service. In September 2025 she filed whistleblower complaints with the Office of Special Counsel. They alleged that grants and clinical trials were being cancelled for political reasons and that Matthew Memoli, a senior NIH official, had played down the value of vaccines, arguing that "vaccines are unnecessary if populations are healthy." Health and Human Services defended Memoli as "fully aligned with this administration's vaccine priorities." Within weeks Secretary [[Robert F. Kennedy Jr.]] fired her, citing only his "constitutional authority to do so." She sued in December 2025. *Marrazzo v. Kennedy* (D. Md. No. 8:25-cv-04144), brought by lawyers including Debra Katz and Abbe Lowell, claims violations of the Whistleblower Protection Act, the Civil Service Reform Act and her First and Fifth Amendment rights, and names Kennedy, NIH director [[Jay Bhattacharya]] and Memoli among the defendants. The government's motion to dismiss for lack of jurisdiction was fully briefed in June 2026; the docket shows no ruling as of November 1, 2026. > [!note] Stub > This is a short entry that hasn't been fully written yet. ## See also - [[Federal Whistleblower Roster]] - [[NIH]] · [[NIAID]] - [[Criminalizing Whistleblowers]]
