# Jared Isaacman
**Jared Isaacman** is the **15th Administrator of [[NASA]]**, confirmed by the Senate on **December 18,
2025**. He is the billionaire founder of the payments company Shift4 Payments and a commercial astronaut who
commanded the privately funded Inspiration4 and Polaris Dawn [[SpaceX]] missions — making him, before he
took office, one of the most prominent civilian-spaceflight figures in the [[Elon Musk]] orbit, and after it,
the government official who oversees the agency that is SpaceX's largest customer.
## The nomination saga
Isaacman's path to the job took thirteen months and two nominations. [[Donald Trump]] named him for the post
in late 2024; the nomination was **withdrawn in May 2025**, in the period surrounding the public rupture
between Trump and [[Elon Musk]]. He was **renominated in November 2025**, faced a further round of Senate
questioning in early December, and was confirmed on **December 18, 2025**. He was still in office as of
NASA's May 2026 administrator communications.
The withdrawal-and-renomination sequence is the part of his record most worth holding precisely, because his
political giving tracks it closely.
## Political giving
| Date | Amount | Recipient | In office? |
|---|---|---|---|
| June 2025 | $1,000,000 | [[MAGA Inc]] | No — nomination withdrawn |
| September 2025 | $1,000,000 | [[MAGA Inc]] | No |
| November 2, 2025 | reported | Trump-aligned vehicles | No — two days before renomination announced |
| **August 19, 2026** | **$2,000,000** | **[[MAGA Inc]]** | **Yes — sitting NASA Administrator** |
He also gave approximately **$443,000 to the [[Republican National Committee]]** in June 2025, bringing his
2025 Republican committee giving to roughly $2.5 million.
The **August 19, 2026** contribution is categorically different from the others: it was made while he held
a Senate-confirmed federal office, and MAGA Inc's own filing records his employer as NASA and his occupation
as Administrator. See [[Isaacman 2M to MAGA Inc August 2026]] for the full record and the open questions,
including why the committee filed a $2M receipt from a named individual as a Line 17 non-contribution.
## Why the vault tracks him
Isaacman occupies a position the knowledge base has few clean examples of: a private principal from a
tracked commercial network who crossed into the government side of the same relationship and kept funding
the political operation that put him there. NASA's human-spaceflight and launch programs depend
substantially on [[SpaceX]]; Isaacman has flown two SpaceX missions and is personally tied to its founder;
he now runs the agency that awards those contracts.
Nothing in the public record examined here links his giving to any procurement decision, and the vault
should not assert one. The [[Conflict of Interest]] is positional and worth recording as such — a structural
fact about where he sits, not an allegation about what he has done.
