# Huma Abedin **Huma Abedin** (born July 28, 1975, Kalamazoo, Michigan; raised in Jeddah) is a longtime aide to [[Hillary Clinton]], beginning as a White House intern in 1996. She has been a target of two separate right-wing narratives: a 2012 "Muslim Brotherhood infiltration" smear, and — through her 2025 marriage to [[Alex Soros]] — Soros conspiracy content. ## The 2012 letters In July 2012 Rep. [[Michele Bachmann]] and four other House Republicans sent letters claiming Abedin's late father, mother and brother were "connected to Muslim Brotherhood operatives and/or organizations." Sen. John McCain called the claims "sinister"; the State Department called them "vicious and disgusting lies." When Rep. Sean Duffy revived the claim in 2016, PolitiFact rated it **False**. The recurring hook was that Abedin had worked (1996–2008) on an academic journal her mother edited, the *Journal of Muslim Minority Affairs*. See [[Muslim Brotherhood]] and [[Islamophobia]]. ## The laptop Abedin married Rep. Anthony Weiner in 2010; they announced their separation on August 29, 2016. On October 28, 2016, [[James Comey]] told Congress the FBI had found emails potentially relevant to the Clinton server investigation on a laptop shared by the couple — eleven days before the election. The FBI obtained a search warrant on October 30 and on November 6 said the review did not change its conclusion. ## Since Abedin published a memoir, *Both/And*, in November 2021. She married Alex Soros, chair of the [[Open Society Foundations]], on June 14, 2025. ## RWKB angle Abedin sits where two conspiracy lanes meet: the counter-jihad "infiltration" story and the [[George Soros Conspiracy]]. ## See Also - [[Michele Bachmann]] - [[Alex Soros]]
