# George P. Bush
George Prescott Bush (b. 1976) is the son of [[Jeb Bush]] and Columba Bush, and the **fourth-generation standard-bearer of the [[Bush Family]]**. He served as **Texas Land Commissioner (2015–2023)**. In an effort to survive the party's realignment he openly courted Donald Trump's favor, but still **lost the 2022 Texas Attorney General primary to Trump-endorsed incumbent Ken Paxton by more than thirty points** — a defeat widely read as proof that the Bush brand had become a liability in Republican primaries. His Mexican-American heritage (through his mother) and bilingual appeal had once made him the family's most-touted political future.
> Stub — expand with the 2022 AG primary, his Trump-accommodation strategy, and Land Commissioner tenure (Alamo redevelopment, Hurricane Harvey recovery).
