Served in the first Trump administration at DHS and the Justice Department, where he was among the architects of the family-separation and DACA-rescission policies, and in the second as Deputy White House Counsel (January–June 2025) before returning to AFL. His career is the clearest instance of the AFL pattern: writing policy inside government, then litigating for it from outside.
