# Faustin-Archange Touadéra
**Faustin-Archange Touadéra** (born 1957, Bangui) is president of the [[Central African Republic]] and the African leader most dependent on the [[Wagner Group]]. A mathematician and former university rector, he was prime minister from 2008 to 2013 and has been president since March 2016. Wagner has guarded him and fought his rebels since about 2018, paid in mining concessions through companies such as [[Lobaye Invest]]. A July 2023 referendum abolished term limits and lengthened the term to seven years; he won a third term on December 28, 2025 with 77.9% amid an opposition boycott and fraud allegations, and was sworn in on March 30, 2026. He met [[Vladimir Putin]] in Moscow in March 2026 as Russia pressed him to replace Wagner with the state-run [[Africa Corps]].
