# Ezra Levin
Co-founder and co-executive director of [[Indivisible]], and the most visible organizer behind the [[No Kings Coalition]]. He is the person who speaks for the mobilizations in public, which makes him the usable primary source for what the coalition thinks it is doing — the reason he appears across this wiki's resistance pages.
## Background
- Born 1986. B.A., Carleton College (2007); master's degree, Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School (2013).
- AmeriCorps VISTA in San Jose, California (2007–2008).
- Deputy policy director for Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) from 2008 to 2011 — the congressional-staff experience that shaped the Indivisible method.
- Associate director of federal policy at Prosperity Now (2012–2017), working on homelessness and poverty.
## Indivisible
In late 2016, Levin and three other former congressional staffers — among them **Leah Greenberg**, his spouse and co-executive director — wrote the "Indivisible Guide," a tactical manual that inverted Tea Party methods for the anti-Trump coalition: constituent pressure, town-hall confrontation, primary threats. It was downloaded millions of times. Indivisible was formed as a 501(c)(4) in February 2017 with Levin as its first president.
The structural insight was that a decentralized movement needs a script more than it needs a headquarters. That is what the Guide supplied, and it is the same logic the No Kings days of action run on a decade later.
## The No Kings mobilizations
Levin is the organizer quoted at each stage of the four No Kings mobilizations. Two of his framing choices are documented on their event pages:
- **No candidates on stage.** Across the October 17, 2026 day of action, two rules held at every event: no political endorsements, and no current candidates invited to speak. For a coalition organised around opposition to one president, barring candidates is what lets the organizers call the day nonpartisan voter participation rather than a campaign rally.
- **Protest converted into turnout.** The fourth mobilization abandoned the protest form entirely for early voting, registration checks and poll-watcher recruitment. Levin's stated target was the largest midterm early vote in U.S. history: "Did we drive the biggest early vote in the history of the Republic? … I think we're gonna do it."
When [[Meta]] disabled the coalition's [[Instagram]] account during that day of action, Levin's response placed the platform inside the movement's own frame rather than treating it as a technical failure:
> [!quote] Ezra Levin, October 17, 2026
> "No Kings means no kings in the White House, or in Silicon Valley."
