# Eric Holder **Eric Holder** was [[Barack Obama]]'s Attorney General from February 2009 to April 2015 — the first Black holder of the office and, in June 2012, the first sitting Cabinet officer held in contempt by the House, over documents in the Fast and Furious gun-walking inquiry. His tenure set the terms of the modern right's case against the Justice Department: the "Holder Justice Department" became the shorthand for a politicized DOJ well before the Trump-era [[Weaponization Working Group]] inverted the charge. Since 2017 he has chaired the National Democratic Redistricting Committee, the Democratic counterweight in the [[Gerrymandering]] wars. > [!note] Stub > Created to resolve links from the Attorney General page.
