# Edward R. Murrow
Pioneering CBS broadcast journalist (1908–1965) whose WWII radio reports from London and 1954 television takedown of Senator Joseph McCarthy on *See It Now* set the standard for broadcast news independence. Murrow is the patron saint of the [[CBS News]] tradition that later management is repeatedly accused of betraying.
