**Edward C. "Ed" Forst** has been Administrator of [[GSA]] since December 2025. The Senate confirmed him on 18 December 2025 and he was sworn in on 24 December 2025, succeeding [[Michael Rigas]], who had been serving as acting administrator since July 2025. He came to the post from the private sector, having been a Goldman Sachs executive and chief executive of the commercial real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield.
**Why it matters.** GSA is the government's landlord and buyer, and it is also the home of two quiet government-wide referee functions: the Federal Management Regulation and the Committee Management Secretariat, which oversees the roughly one thousand federal advisory committees. On 14 January 2026 Forst ratified a December 2025 deregulatory rule rewriting the advisory-committee regulations, which had been signed under authority delegated by his acting predecessor — a step taken to cure the question of who had the authority to sign it.
