# David Sacks Ideology
Map of [[David Sacks]]'s belief system — its Stanford origins, its libertarian-to-MAGA migration, and the All-In media engine that broadcasts it. The running developments live on the canonical [[David Sacks]] page and in [[David Sacks News Log]].
> Sacks's ideology is unusually **legible** because he broadcasts it weekly. The [[All-In Podcast]] is the primary text; the donations in [[David Sacks Political Donations]] are it operationalized.
## The load-bearing beliefs
| Belief | Short form | Vehicle |
|---|---|---|
| Anti-"woke" / anti-multiculturalism | Campus multiculturalism breeds intolerance | *[[The Diversity Myth]]* (1995, with [[Peter Thiel]]) |
| Deregulation maximalism | Government is the bottleneck on tech and crypto | AI/Crypto Czar agenda |
| Crypto-libertarianism | Decentralized money as a freedom project | Early Solana/[[Multicoin Capital]] bets |
| Realist/restraint foreign policy | The US "provoked" Russia; pivot resources to Asia | RNC 2024 (see [[David Sacks - provoked the Russians]]) |
| Governance-failure narrative | Blue-city/blue-state governance is broken | [[Chesa Boudin Recall]]; California-exodus rhetoric |
| Tech-elite as natural governing class | Silicon Valley should run policy, not just build | The Czar role itself |
## Origins — the Stanford Review nexus
Sacks's politics begin at Stanford in the late 1980s–90s: *The Stanford Review* (co-founded by [[Peter Thiel]], 1987) and the 1995 book *[[The Diversity Myth]]*, co-authored with Thiel. The anti-political-correctness argument there is the seed of the anti-"woke" politics he now broadcasts — the through-line from campus contrarian to AI Czar runs straight through this partnership.
## The All-In engine
The [[All-In Podcast]] (with [[Chamath Palihapitiya]], [[Jason Calacanis]], [[David Friedberg]]) is the most politically influential tech podcast in America — Slate's "where Silicon Valley's money says what it really thinks." Function:
- **Normalization** — made MAGA politics speakable in tech circles.
- **Audience capital** — a donor-class listenership convertible into fundraising (the $12M event).
- **Agenda-laundering** — deregulation and restraint framed as common-sense "first principles."
The podcast → fundraiser → Czar pipeline is itself an ideological claim: that the tech-investor worldview deserves direct state power.
## The migration (the through-line)
Sacks is the clearest case of the **libertarian-to-MAGA** migration in the tech right: a Clinton donor in 2016 who hosted a $12M Trump event in 2024. The belief content shifted less than the alliance did — anti-regulation, anti-"woke," crypto-maximalist throughout; what changed is that MAGA became the vehicle most likely to deliver those outcomes.
