# David Venturella **Status: stub — expand.** **David Venturella** is the **acting director of [[ICE]]** since June 2026, following [[Todd Lyons]]'s resignation at the end of May. A longtime ICE official (he ran the Secure Communities program in the Obama years), he spent 2012–2019 as a senior executive of the **GEO Group** — the private prison and detention contractor that holds major ICE detention contracts — making his appointment a clean specimen of the detention-industry revolving door: the agency's chief buyer of detention beds is now run by a former seller. [[Lance Schroyer]] is the pending nominee for the confirmed directorship. ## The voter-fraud briefings (2026) ICE records released in October 2026 show the voter-fraud program briefed directly to Venturella. The May 27, 2026 papers crediting DHS official [[Heather Honey]] with 48.4 million voter records were sent as "SOPDD Venturella - Briefing Documents - Tomorrow's Fraud Call," and a June 8 advisory on planned Ohio search warrants and 100-plus interviews was addressed to him.
