# Dave McCormick **Dave McCormick** is the Republican U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania, sworn in on 3 January 2025. A former hedge-fund executive and Treasury under secretary, he lost the 2022 Republican Senate primary to Mehmet Oz and won the seat in 2024 by defeating the three-term incumbent [[Bob Casey]] by a margin inside one-half of one percent. That margin triggered Pennsylvania's automatic statewide recount under 25 P.S. § 3154(g), which the Secretary of the Commonwealth ordered on 13 November 2024 and halted on 22 November after Casey conceded — eight days after the statutory window for a candidate to waive the recount had closed. The episode is worked out on [[How a Conceded Election Is Finalized]]. ## See also - [[Bob Casey]] · [[How a Conceded Election Is Finalized]] · [[Recount Trigger Crosswalk]] · [[Concession]]
