An attorney, he served in the Florida House from 2007 to 2012 and the Florida Senate from 2012 to 2016, and was first elected to Congress in 2016 from Florida's 9th District. In 2026 he is seeking a sixth term in a 9th District that Florida's new congressional map, signed by Gov.
