# Clint Murchison
Clint Williams Murchison Sr. (1895–1969) was a Texas oil financier and one of the mid-century Texas oil-money magnates, alongside [[Sid Richardson]] — his lifelong friend and business associate — and [[H.L. Hunt]]. Murchison built a sprawling web of oil, banking, and industrial holdings and became a significant conservative political donor and power broker. His family's wealth continued into the next generation, including ownership of the Dallas Cowboys.
Murchison exemplifies the Texas pattern in which oil fortunes generated after [[Spindletop]] converted into political influence, laying the groundwork for the state's conservative donor culture.
