Nominated by [[Donald Trump]] on 2 March 2026 and confirmed by the Senate, he is the first Senate-confirmed Archivist since [[Colleen Shogan]] was removed on 7 February 2025 — ending an eighteen-month run of acting officials and outright vacancy at the head of the [[National Archives]]. The seat matters beyond records custody: the Archivist appoints the Director of the [[Information Security Oversight Office]] with the approval of the President, and both ISOO and the [[National Declassification Center]] sit inside NARA.
