# Ben Tarnoff
**Ben Tarnoff** is an American writer and technologist, a co-founder of the tech-criticism magazine *Logic* (launched 2017), and the author of *Internet for the People: The Fight for Our Digital Future* (Verso, 2022), which argues for public and cooperative ownership of internet infrastructure. His earlier books include the histories *A Counterfeiter's Paradise* and *The Bohemians*, and he co-wrote *Voices from the Valley* with Moira Weigel. He graduated from Harvard in 2007.
With [[Quinn Slobodian]] he co-authored *[[Muskism]]: A Guide for the Perplexed* (2026), which coined [[Fortress Futurism]]. In interviews about the book, Tarnoff is the author who draws the line from apartheid South Africa's drive for "economic and technological self-sufficiency" to [[Elon Musk]]'s practice of "concentrating production within the walls of the firm."
