# Sports Betting Alliance The **Sports Betting Alliance (SBA)** is the online sportsbooks' own lobbying group, separate from the casino-dominated [[American Gaming Association]]. It was formed by [[DraftKings]], [[FanDuel]], [[BetMGM]] and [[Fanatics]]; [[bet365]] joined in June 2025 as its fifth member. It works in **state legislatures**: pushing to legalize online betting and online casinos, and fighting tax increases. In 2025 it ran a campaign that sent more than 76,000 messages to Illinois lawmakers against a sports-betting tax, which passed anyway. ## Leadership Founding president Jeremy Kudon, a lobbyist, became chairman in December 2025. **Joe Maloney**, previously the AGA's senior vice president for strategic communications, became president. The move from one group to the other came just as the AGA and the online sportsbooks split over prediction markets. ## No position on the big fight Three of the SBA's five members (DraftKings, FanDuel and Fanatics) now run CFTC-registered prediction products; BetMGM and bet365 do not. So the alliance stays out of it. Maloney in July 2026: "There's no formal position. Certainly there's no advocacy on prediction markets with the SBA." Its line is "strengthening the state-regulated market wherever it exists." That neutrality is the clearest evidence of how prediction markets split the gambling industry. The AGA calls them "backdoor sports betting." The [[Coalition for Prediction Markets]] calls them federally regulated derivatives. The online sportsbooks' own lobby says nothing, because its biggest members are on both sides. ## Political money The same four companies fund the industry's 2026 election push, through the [[Win for America]] super PAC and its affiliate PACs [[American Future]] and [[American Conservative Fund]]: $72 million, mostly in state races (DraftKings $34M, FanDuel $27M, bet365 and Fanatics $5.5M each, per Reuters and FEC filings). BetMGM is the one SBA member that did not pay in.
