# NRSC Recount Fund
The **NRSC Recount Fund** (Federal Election Commission identifier **C00964494**) registered with the
commission on **3 November 2026 — election day itself**, at 1:10 in the afternoon Eastern time, while
polls in Alaska were still open. Its registration names two affiliates: the
[[National Republican Senatorial Committee]] and **Alaskans for Dan Sullivan**, the campaign committee of
the Republican incumbent in [[AK-Sen-2026]].
A recount fund is a separate account a party committee or campaign may raise into for the specific costs
of contesting, recounting or certifying a result. Setting one up is a normal piece of contingency
planning, and doing it before the votes are counted is not an allegation about anything. What makes this
one worth recording is the race it is attached to and the address it filed from.
## What the registration says
| | |
|---|---|
| Committee | NRSC Recount Fund, FEC **C00964494** |
| Registered | **2026-11-03**, received 13:10:48 Eastern — the day of the general election |
| Document | FEC Form 1, file **2046092** |
| Address | **421 Office Park Drive, Mountain Brook, Alabama 35223** |
| Treasurer and custodian of records | **Benjamin Ottenhoff** |
| Contact | an address at the domain of the Crosby Ottenhoff Group, the compliance firm at the same street address |
| Depository | [[Chain Bridge Bank]], 1445A Laughlin Avenue, McLean, Virginia |
| Affiliated committees named on the form | **Alaskans for Dan Sullivan** (C00570994) and the **[[National Republican Senatorial Committee]]** (C00027466) |
It has reported no receipts and no spending. A Form 1 is a registration and has no field for either; the
first document that could show money is a financial report filed after the election.
## Why it's on the map
**It is the eighth federal committee this wiki records at 421 Office Park Drive.** That address in
Mountain Brook, Alabama is the office of a Republican compliance firm, and the committees registered or
filing from it that this wiki has recorded now run from joint-fundraising vehicles for sitting senators to
independent-expenditure committees that spent millions in Florida, Alaska and Kansas in the closing weeks
of the 2026 campaign: [[Civic Renewal Fund]], [[Keep the Senate]], [[One Team Senate Majority]],
[[Stronger Safer Nation]], [[Last Frontier PAC]], [[Choose Freedom PAC]] and
[[Alliance for a Better Future]], alongside [[Townsend Six Corporation]].
The standing caution on all of those pages applies here too, and applies most strongly to this one: **an
address is a compliance practice before it is a network.** A firm that keeps the books for many committees
will appear as the address of many committees, and that is what a compliance firm is for. What is new is
only that a national party committee's own recount vehicle now files from the same desk.
The second thing worth recording is the **depository**. [[Chain Bridge Bank]] is the small McLean,
Virginia bank this wiki already tracks for a different reason: it extended a
[[Chain Bridge Bank 20M Credit to NRSC]] line of credit to the same party committee in this cycle. The
bank now appears on both the borrowing side and the deposit side of the NRSC's 2026 operation.
## The race it was built for
[[AK-Sen-2026]] is the contest this fund names, and it is the one Senate race in 2026 that arrived at
election day with its result already in dispute. The race pits the incumbent [[Dan Sullivan]] against the
former representative [[Mary Peltola]]; a **second candidate named Dan Sullivan** appeared on the ballot,
reporting established that operatives connected to national Democrats had recruited him, and state and
congressional inquiries into that recruitment were open on election day. A federal judge dismissed the
Justice Department's suit over the ballot on **1 November**, two days before the vote. Sullivan said
publicly that he would accept the result.
Against that background a recount fund registered hours before the count is best read as what an NRSC
spokesperson said it was — a committee meant to be "ready for all contingencies, including recounts" — and
also as a measure of how close the party expected the margin to be. Alaska counts by ranked choice and
counts slowly; see [[Recount]].
## What to watch
- **Whether the fund reports any money.** Its first financial report is the only document that can show
who paid into a recount account registered on election day, and whether it was used at all.
- **Whether a recount is actually requested in Alaska**, and on what margin.
- **Whether a ninth committee appears at 421 Office Park Drive**, and whether any of the eight begins to
show a relationship beyond a shared compliance firm.
