# League of Conservation Voters
A national environmental advocacy organisation at **740 15th St NW, Washington DC** — the same building
as its political committee, [[LCV Victory Fund]]. The advocacy body is organised as a
[[501(c)(4)]] social-welfare group, which means it is not required to disclose who funds it.
## Why it is on file here
**It is the largest single funder of its own super PAC.** On 2026-09-08 it gave **$5,000,000.00** to
[[LCV Victory Fund]], itemised on Line 11(a)(i) of that committee's September report, file **2029848**.
That is 60.9% of the committee's receipts for the month and the larger part of a six-million-dollar
funding block — see [[LCV Victory Fund 6M Funding Block September 2026]].
A grant from a 501(c)(4) to an affiliated super PAC turns money whose source is not public into spending
that is. The practice is lawful and widespread across the political spectrum; the effect on the record is
that the super PAC's disclosure names the advocacy group and stops there.
## Open questions
- Who funds the 501(c)(4). It is not on the federal campaign-finance record.
- Its total transfers to [[LCV Victory Fund]] across the 2026 cycle.
