# Fair Courts America
The **judicial-election arm** of the [[Dick Uihlein]] political constellation — a super PAC, run within the Doug Truax / [[Restoration of America]] operation, that exists to elect conservative judges to state supreme courts and other judicial offices. Fair Courts America is the cleanest example of how the Uihlein machine pursues **court capture from the bottom up**, pouring Uline-derived money into the low-turnout, historically sleepy world of state judicial races where a few million dollars can swing an entire court.
## Funding
Like the rest of the constellation, Fair Courts America is a single-donor vehicle: [[Dick Uihlein]] is its overwhelming funder. The PAC took in roughly **$12 million across 2023–2024, about $9 million of it from Uihlein**, and has deployed that money in the most expensive judicial battlegrounds in the country.
## Wisconsin Supreme Court Battles
Wisconsin — the Uihleins' adopted home state and political laboratory — has been the central front:
- **2023:** Fair Courts America spent **$5 million+** supporting conservative Daniel Kelly in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race (Kelly lost to Janet Protasiewicz, flipping the court to a liberal majority).
- **2025:** Fair Courts America spent **$4.4 million+** in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race backing Brad Schimel against Susan Crawford. The contest became the **most expensive judicial election in U.S. history**, with total spending exceeding **$100 million** — a race that also drew [[Elon Musk]]'s heavy spending on the conservative side and major liberal megadonors on the other. Schimel lost, leaving the liberal majority intact.
## Why It Matters Here
Fair Courts America matters because it shows the right-wing donor class treating **state courts as acquirable assets**. State supreme courts decide abortion access, redistricting and gerrymandering, election rules, and the scope of executive power — increasingly the real battleground after federal gridlock — and they are chosen in cheap, low-information elections uniquely vulnerable to a single billionaire's spending. The Wisconsin races demonstrate both the strategy's ambition and its limits: Uihlein's money made the races historically expensive but did not, in 2023 or 2025, deliver the court.
