# Election Integrity Network The **Election Integrity Network (EIN)** is the national coalition [[Cleta Mitchell]] built in 2021, after her role on Trump's January 2, 2021 call to [[Brad Raffensperger]] cost her her law-firm partnership. It started as a project of the [[Conservative Partnership Institute]], where Mitchell is a senior legal fellow. Its job is to turn the energy of [[Stop the Steal]] into permanent local infrastructure: state coalitions of activists who serve as poll workers and poll watchers, file records requests, press officials on voter rolls, and lobby for stricter election laws. > [!note] Origin > Documented and InfluenceWatch both place its origin at the Conservative Partnership Institute; Heritage Action members took part in its state coalitions. ## How it works Documented's 2023 investigation found EIN coalitions in Georgia, North Carolina, Florida, Arizona, Pennsylvania and Michigan, drawing on national groups including [[Tea Party Patriots]] and [[Heritage Action]]. Its methods: - **Poll workers and watchers.** In the 2022 cycle the coalitions recruited thousands of people who believed the 2020 election was stolen to serve as election workers and poll watchers. The *New York Times* reported the same push in May 2022. - **Records requests and pressure on local offices.** Activists flood county election offices with requests and scrutiny. - **Leaving ERIC.** The coalitions pressed states to quit the [[Electronic Registration Information Center]]. In June 2022 Mitchell hosted a private event for secretaries of state where [[Heather Honey]] presented on ERIC. Several Republican-run states left the system over the following year. - **Legislation.** Support for laws letting activists challenge voter registrations, limits on mail voting, and bans on drop boxes and ranked-choice voting. - **National coordination.** It connects state activists with groups like the [[Foundation for Government Accountability]] and the [[Honest Elections Project]]. Documented: "Rarely, if ever, do these activists disclose that they are mobilizing as part of a national effort." ## Money and people - **Chair:** Cleta Mitchell. - **Funding:** [[FAIR Elections Fund]], the charity Mitchell runs as president, has made grants to EIN (Sludge; InfluenceWatch). - **Chapters:** [[Pennsylvania Fair Elections]], led by [[Heather Honey]], is a state chapter (ProPublica; Sludge). > [!warning] Single-source, not yet relied on > InfluenceWatch says EIN became an independent nonprofit in 2025 and received a Heritage Foundation "Innovation Prize" in 2026. Documented (2023) said it was being partly folded into the Virginia Institute for Public Policy. Neither claim confirmed by a second source as of 2026-10-09. ## Why it matters EIN is how the stolen-election claim got a payroll and a membership list. Its alumni now hold federal posts: [[Heather Honey]], who led one of its chapters, became DHS's deputy assistant secretary for election integrity in 2025 and supplied 48.4 million voter records to an ICE targeting program in 2026 ([[ICE Voter Records Collection]]). The network that pushed states out of a voter-roll cleaning system is connected, through one person, to a federal program that feeds voter rolls into deportation targeting. ## See also - [[Cleta Mitchell]] · [[Heather Honey]] · [[FAIR Elections Fund]] - [[Conservative Partnership Institute]] - [[Electronic Registration Information Center]] - [[ICE Voter Records Collection]] - [[Stop the Steal]] · [[Election Denialism]]
