# Edmund Burke Foundation
The organizational engine of the National Conservatism movement. A nonprofit founded in 2019 by [[Yoram Hazony]] that organizes the NatCon conferences — the premier gathering point for [[New Right]] intellectuals, politicians, and donors. Named after [[Edmund Burke]] but advancing a vision of conservatism Burke might not recognize: explicitly nationalist, anti-liberal, and pro-state-power.
## Function in the New Right Ecosystem
The Edmund Burke Foundation serves as the **coalition-builder** — the organization that puts NRx-adjacent tech billionaires ([[Peter Thiel]] keynoting), Catholic post-liberals ([[Patrick Deneen]], [[Sohrab Ahmari]] speaking), Claremont thinkers, and elected officials ([[JD Vance]], [[Josh Hawley]], [[Marco Rubio]]) in the same room. This cross-pollination function is its primary power.
## NatCon Conferences
The NatCon conferences have become the premier intellectual gathering of the New Right:
- **NatCon I** (2019, Washington DC) — Inaugural conference. Thiel keynoted.
- **NatCon II** (2021, Orlando) — Expanded roster. JD Vance, Josh Hawley, [[Ted Cruz]].
- **NatCon III** (2022, Miami) — Larger, more politically prominent.
- **NatCon Brussels** (2022) — International expansion. Viktor Orbán headlined.
- **NatCon London** (2023) — UK expansion. [[Suella Braverman]] spoke.
- Multiple subsequent conferences expanding the transatlantic network.
## The Statement of Principles
In 2022, the Edmund Burke Foundation issued a "National Conservatism: A Statement of Principles" signed by prominent New Right figures. Key positions: rejection of globalism, support for national sovereignty, religious traditionalism, immigration restriction, industrial policy.
## Funding
[[Peter Thiel]] is a major funder and has delivered the opening keynote at all US NatCon conferences. The foundation also receives support from networks connected to [[Leonard Leo]] and the broader conservative donor infrastructure.
