# Aurora Action Network **Aurora Action Network** is a federally registered **independent-expenditure-only committee (super PAC)** with an Anchorage address of record and a Wisconsin treasurer. It enters the vault's money record because its **third-quarter 2026 report is the first federal document naming its donors** — and it names **[[Elon Musk]]** at **$1,500,000.00**. Despite its registration class, the committee reported **no independent expenditures at all** in the quarter. It moved **$1,750,000.00** out as Schedule B Line 29 **"DONATION"** rows, **$1,500,000.00** of it to a **state ballot-measure committee**. On this record it functions as a **conduit**, not a spender. ## Registration | Field | Value | |---|---| | FEC committee ID | **C00907584** | | Committee type | **Super PAC (Independent Expenditure-Only)** | | Designation | Unauthorized | | Connected organization / party | None | | First filed with the FEC | **2025-06-06** | | Treasurer | **[[Thomas Datwyler]]** | | Address of record | Anchorage, AK | | State of record | **AK** | > [!note] The press calls it Wisconsin-based; the FEC address is Alaska > Alaska Public Media described the committee in August 2026 as "a Wisconsin-based political action > committee." Its FEC address of record is in **Anchorage**; its **treasurer** is in **Hudson, > Wisconsin**, and its compliance-consulting payee is also in Hudson. The vault records both facts and > does not resolve which description is the better one. ## Q3 2026 report — file 2019466 Form **3XN**, coverage **2026-07-01 to 2026-09-30**, report code `Q3`, received **2026-10-11T13:13:36 ET**. An original, not an amendment. **Receipts: $1,861,500.00**, entirely itemized across fourteen **Line 11(a)** rows — no unitemized remainder. | Contributor | Amount | Date | Aggregate on the filing | |---|---|---|---| | **[[Elon Musk]]** — Space Exploration Technologies Corp., CEO, Lakeway TX | **$1,500,000.00** | 2026-07-06 | $1,500,000.00 | | **[[Jeff Yass]]** — SIG, Managing Director, Bala Cynwyd PA | **$325,000.00** | 2026-07-08 | **$675,000.00** | | Thirteen others (twelve individuals, one business) | **$36,500.00** combined | 2026-07-07 to 2026-09-10 | $500.00 – $10,000.00 | Two donors supply **98.0%** of the quarter. Among the small Alaska donors, one lists her employer as **"US Congressman Nick Begich"** — a $1,000.00 contribution, recorded here as a datum and nothing more; see [[Nick Begich III]]. **Disbursements: $1,985,385.40.** | Category | Amount | |---|---| | Operating expenditures | **$235,385.40** ($235,317.40 itemized across 14 rows; **$68.00** unitemized) | | Line 29 "other disbursements" — all three coded **DONATION** | **$1,750,000.00** | | Payee | Address | Date | Amount | |---|---|---|---| | [[Repeal Now]] | PO Box 240382, Anchorage, AK | 2026-07-29 | **$1,000,000.00** | | [[Repeal Now]] | PO Box 240382, Anchorage, AK | 2026-09-10 | **$500,000.00** | | [[Make A Diff Inc]] | **Hudson, WI** | 2026-07-28 | **$250,000.00** | All three carry election code `O2026` and the designation `NON-ELECTION`. **Vendors.** The Ullr Group, Salt Lake City — **$182,500.00** in two payments for *fundraising consulting*, the committee's largest operating line by far. Legal consulting to a Costa Mesa payee, **$44,135.00** across four payments. Compliance consulting to a **Hudson, Wisconsin** payee, **$6,770.00** across five payments. None of the three is at the vault's three-committee vendor-page threshold. **Cash.** Opening **$314,567.40**, closing **$190,682.00**; the summary reconciles against receipts and disbursements. Cycle-to-date the report puts receipts at **$2,596,500.00** and disbursements at **$2,685,345.40** — meaning roughly **$735,000.00** of cycle receipts, including about **$350,000.00** of the Yass aggregate, sits in earlier reports not reviewed here. ## Why it is in the vault The committee is the **funding layer between an out-of-state billionaire and an Alaska ballot measure**. The measure in question would repeal Alaska's top-four open primary and ranked-choice general election, and — bundled into the same initiative — the **dark-money disclosure requirement** adopted alongside them, which compels entities passing through more than $2,000 a year of donated funds to name their true sources. See [[2026 Ballot Measures Hub]]. It also extends the [[Thomas Datwyler]] record **backwards in time**: the five Datwyler committees the vault had recorded all registered in September and October 2026 with no money disclosed. Aurora registered in **June 2025** and has moved **$2.68 million**. The standing caution applies — a compliance treasurer is a vendor, not a principal, and nothing here asserts that Datwyler funds or directs the committee. ## What is not established - **Who the committee's earlier donors were.** Press reporting names Dick Uihlein, Timothy Mellon and Hilcorp owner Jeffery Hildebrand; **none appears in file 2019466**. Their contributions, if federal, would be in earlier reports. No amount is stated here. See [[Dick Uihlein]]. - **Whether the Musk money is the money that reached Repeal Now.** The totals match to the dollar and the transfers follow by twenty-two days, but super PAC money is not earmarked and the committee carried an opening balance. This page records the coincidence of figures, not a causal claim. - **What Make A Diff, Inc is.** It is a corporation, not an FEC committee, at the treasurer's street address. See [[Make A Diff Inc]]. - **Whether the committee has ever filed a Schedule E.** Only FEC file 2019466 has been reviewed for this entry. ## What to watch - 🔴 **Aurora Action Network's pre-Q3 reports** — the only route to the Uihlein, Mellon and Hildebrand names, and to the missing ~$735,000.00 of cycle receipts. - 🔴 **A third Repeal Now transfer**, or any transfer after 2026-09-10. - 🔴 **A second federal committee donating to Make A Diff, Inc**, or any other committee at Hudson WI. - **The Ullr Group on a second committee** — $182,500.00 on its first vault appearance. - **Whether the committee ever files a Schedule E** before the election. ## See Also - [[Elon Musk 1.5M to Aurora Action Network]] - [[Repeal Now]] · [[Make A Diff Inc]] · [[Thomas Datwyler]] - [[Elon Musk]] · [[Jeff Yass]] · [[Dick Uihlein]] · [[Nick Begich III]] - [[Datwyler Four Super PAC Formation Cluster October 2026]] · [[Red Alaska PAC]] · [[Mobilizing Americans for Real Change and Opportunity PAC]] - [[Dark Money]] · [[Super PACs]] · [[Independent Expenditure]] · [[Astroturfing]] · [[State-Branded Super PAC Template]] · [[Voter Suppression]] - [[2026 Ballot Measures Hub]] · [[AK-Sen-2026]] · [[Organizations Hub]] · [[Deals Hub]]
